Brief History of Ozuitem, and its People!

According to history, the ancestral father of Ozuitem can be traced to Ogiri. Ogiri's son Okpi gave birth to Item and Omaka.

Omaka was the founder of Ozuitem. History has it that Ogiri, Omaka, Item and Okpi, migrated from the south-south region (present day Cross River State) in pursuit of greener pastures for settlement.

During the journey, they sojourned to rest before continuing their journey. Omaka, seeing the opportunities and potentials of the resting place, decided to settle there with his family, while the rest continued their journey.

It is believed by historians, that the name Ozuitem was culled from Ozuzu-ike Item, meaning the resting place of the Item family.
